FISD Health Clinic for staff created

In News by Reporter News

The first Mustang Clinic has been created in Friendswood ISD. The clinic is a new health resource available to FISD employees, their spouses and children.

The school district and the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) are partnering to offer the special minor illness clinic which opened Sept. 1 on FM 528 and FM 518 by 24 Hour Fitness in Friendswood.

The partnership goes hand in hand with the UTMB Health motto of working together to work wonders.

With increasing costs of insurance on FISD employees and an increase in deductibles, the district wanted to find a way to help their faculty and staff get affordable care for minor illnesses and conditions. A sum of $200,000 was allocated by the FISD School Board to support the program and UTMB put a nurse practitioner into place at the clinic for FISD’s use.

Feedback on the clinic has been positive and the district will continue to monitor the usage of the clinic to determine its success.
