Decision postponed on remaining FISD bond funds

The Friendswood ISD Board of Trustees this month looked at possibilities for the approximately $1.5 million in remaining 2007 bond funds, but postponed any decisions.

On the table is an option for renovation of the district’s annex building into a board room and main offices, leaving the current administration building to be sold or rented by the district.

Other options for the funds were discussed by the board in August included construction of a baseball field house and setting aside remaining funds for large maintenance purposes needed in the coming years.

The remaining bond funds do not have a time limit, FISD officials said, since the amount remaining has dipped under $5 million.

During the October regular meeting, the board agreed to spend $13,560 for repairs and replacements to Cline Elementary’s playground equipment. The refurbishing of the overall play structure will include new fall surfacing and an ADA compliant ramp.

The FISD Board of Trustees usually meets at 5:45 p.m. in the FISD Boardroom, 302 Laurel. The next scheduled regular meeting date is Nov. 11.
