The 12th Annual Monster Dash Fun Run took place last Saturday at Friendswood Highschool. Neither the chilly temps or cloudy skies could keep the 300 participants at home. Runners were tickled pink to receive such cute race shirts and overflowing goody bags. They enjoyed getting caricatures, taking pictures with Houston Texan cheerleaders and eating Angie’s cake balls. The event raised over $15,500 for the Foundation for Ichthyosis and Related Skin Types, (F.I.R.S.T.). Their mission is to educate, inspire, and connect those touched by ichthyosis and related disorders through emotional support, information, advocacy, and research funding for better treatments and eventual cures. Two young girls affected by ichthyosis were present at the race, Jordan Johnson and Gina Concialdi. Dawn Johnson, Jordan’s mom, started this event to raise awareness in the community about ichthyosis and it’s definitely become a fall tradition for many in the area.
