Child Porn Investigation Leads to Pearland Home

An investigation of possible manufacturing of child pornography that began in Liberty County ended in Pearland Friday in an arrest of a local man.

Tad Jeremy Costin, 42, of Pearland, is charged with sexual assault of a child and remains in the Harris County Jail with no bond.
Agencies involved in the Nov. 1 arrest in the 3900 block of Oak Dale Drive and investigation include Pearland Police, Harris County Crimes Against Children Task Force, Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security.

The investigation goes back to Costin’s former home in Liberty County near Dayton where images were allegedly discovered by his girlfriend’s parents. Officials said there are at least 15 victims, who appear to be toddlers up to about 7 years old. Additional images were discovered in the Pearland home, according to reports.

It is a nightmarish contrast to a personal website that describes Costin as an Air Force veteran interested in cars, music and fitness.
A priority in the case is to identify and help the young victims – though the images may date as far back as 1990, according to a news release from the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. It is not yet known how the suspect may have gained access to so many young children, many of whom appear drugged in the images, investigators said.

Though some reports say Costin has had prior, similar arrests, he was not on the Texas Sex Offender Registry.
