The Pearland girls and boys cross country and track and field will be hosting the first annual GRIT Run. This year’s event will benefit Hannah Hendricks, Pearland girls cross country runner that was hit by a car late this past summer while on an early morning run.
The proceeds will go directly to the family to help with physical therapy costs, medical bills, and various miscellaneous costs incurred over these last few months.
Hendricks is recovering, however, she suffered serious damage to the lower half of her body and has a very long road ahead. The GRIT Run will be a 4K obstacle-style run featuring between 8-10 obstacles with a healthy run mixed in. The run will be held November 16, 2013 at PHS-The Rig and begin at 9:00 a.m.
The registration cost includes, registration, t-shirt, lunch (hamburger/hot dog), and finisher’s souvenir. Teams are encouraged to be in creative and clever uniforms/costumes!
The run will be non-competitive (for the most part) and the obstacles will be challenging. The event is looking to host a fun event for the kids and adults and raise some money for a very special young lady. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Katelyn Griffin, PHS head girls cross country coach, at [email protected]
Cost is $45 (adults), $35 (students), and $25 (kiddie mudders). Plate lunches will also be available for $8.00 and GRIT T-shirts are $12.00.
