As our community welcomes a new year, Pearland Independent School District recognizes its trustees for their year-round commitment to students.
January is School Board Recognition Month in Texas — honoring the commitment of more than 7,300 publicly-elected officials who serve approximately 5 million public school students.
Pearland ISD thanks its seven school board members for their vision, dedication and outstanding service:
- Rusty DeBorde, President
- Pam Boegler, Vice President
- Rebecca Decker, Secretary
- Lance Botkin, Member
- Adele Brennan, Member
- Virgil Gant, Member
- Andrew Solomon, Member
“Our school board members serve long hours and shoulder enormous responsibilities as they partner with our administration to lead the district. They are engaged, competent and often self-sacrificing with their time. I am honored to work with them,” Pearland ISD Superintendent Dr. John Kelly said.
The board functions as the district’s policy-making body, with administrative staff carrying out the policies set by the board. Trustees models effective school board practices, working as a team to benefit the district’s children.
The board meets regularly on the second Tuesday of each month at the Education Support Center, 1928 N. Main. Open session begins around 6 p.m.
