Neighborhood Scout, a national data research firm, has named Friendswood the 32nd Safest City in America this year based on their latest research.

The recognition, which considers every US city with a population of at least 25,000, is based on the total number of crimes per 1,000 residents. According to Neighborhood Scout, Friendswood is the third safest city in the State of Texas, and one of only six in Texas rated in the nation’s top 100.

The Friendswood Police Department recently released its 2013 Annual Crime Report, which lists Friendswood as having one of the lowest number of crime rates per 1,000 residents in the Houston Metro area, based on information reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Neighborhood Scout ranked Friendswood at #20 last year and at #32 the year before.

The entire list of Neighborhood Scout’s 100 safest cities in America can be viewed on the Neighborhood Scout website.

The City of Friendswood takes pride in working to ensure the community is the safest that it can be, and is proud to have been recognized at the national level.
