Gary Haynes is an outstanding receiver for the Manvel Mavericks. Recently, he posted a video of himself throwing a football about 40 yards and running to catch it that displayed his speed and quickness. The ball was thrown with a high arc that allowed him the time to make the grab.
Since the time the video was released, Haynes has been contacted by several media outlets including Sports Illustrated and Good Morning America.
“This is an incredible short video that has given Haynes and Manvel High School a lot of good publicity,” said Daniel Combs, director of communications. “We are proud of our students and their unique talents, and wish them the best in all that they do.”
Haynes will be a senior for the upcoming football season in the fall and he should receive a lot of attention from various schools across the country. He led the Mavericks in receiving last year as a junior with 52 catches for 876 yards and 13 TDs. Manvel (12-2) advanced to the 5A Div. II Region III finals against the Katy Tigers who ended the Mavs season 56-14.
