FISD Boosts Staff and Fees

Friendswood students may notice several new faces when they return to class Aug. 25.

At Friendswood High, Bruce Bolden Jr. will teach social studies and Paige Ramsey will serve as Spanish teacher and coach. Jennifer Sicuro was also approved as Social Studies teacher and coach at Friendswood High. The school board approved theirs and other contracts at this month’s regular meeting.

Among the hires is Kali Ann Scheschuk as a Friendswood High school counselor. Mark Tucker will be a special education teacher and coach at FHS, and Paige Davis is FISD’s new Licensed Specialist in School Psychology for the 2014-2015 school year. Molly Malloy will be Special Education homebound and transition teacher.

In other FISD news, school lunch fees will increase slightly next year. Trustees approved a 10 cent hike in lunch prices, to $3.10, for junior high and the high school campus, and to $2.20 for elementary campuses for the coming year.

“Participation fees,” those fees collected for activities such as cheerleading, sports, band and speech/debate, etc. will be unchanged next year. The fees range from $50 to $175, depending on school level and activity, and are used to fund stipends, student travel, competition and other expenses.
