Marietta Hannon Martin, 94, of Friendswood, TX passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014.

She was born on January 24, 1920 to John F. Hannon and Mary E. Hatchett Hannon in Houston, TX. She was raised in the Houston Heights and graduated from John H. Reagan High School.

After high school she attended Rice University (Rice Institute) and graduated in 1941. Marietta worked for the Federal Land Bank in Houston, where she met Stephen D. Martin, and they were married on September 28, 1951. She moved to Friendswood in 2008 and lived at the Village on the Park Retirement Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen D. Martin and her son, Joe H. Martin.Marietta is survived by her son, Stephen D. Martin, Jr. and his wife Lisa; daughter-in-law, Mary Martin and husband Steve Schindler; granddaughters, Hannah and Sarah Martin; grandsons, Kevin and Jeffrey Martin; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and cherished friends.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Monday, August 18, 2014 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 (281) 992-7200.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Daniel Hannon officiating. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Christine City Cemetery, 520 E. FM 140, Christine, TX 78012.

Marietta touched the lives of a lot of people. She taught us how to love our family and friends, to have fun and enjoy life. She was a great mom and a great friend. She lived a celebratory life, and we will miss her dearly.
