Fourteen area high school marching bands will all be part of Friendswood High School’s Mighty Mustang Band’s fifth annual Marching Band Competition on Saturday, September 27, at the Henry Winston Stadium.

“The Friendswood Marching Festival will provide an early season educational event that helps the bands prepare for the contest season,” Greg Dick, Director of Bands, said. “We have the very best judges and they give tremendous positive feedback for each band to take home and continue to improve their show.”

The 14 area high school marching bands include Friendswood High School’s own award-winning Mighty Mustang Band.
The bands competing, in order of performance, are Santa Fe, Clear Brook, Pearland, Clear Falls, Cy-Fair, Texas City, Ridgepoint, Klein Oak, Little Cypress-Mauriceville, La Porte, Waller, Dickinson, Clements and Dawson.

Gates open at 11am with preliminary performances beginning at noon. The gates reopen for final competition at 5:15 pm, with the first final performance at 6:30 pm featuring the top 10 bands from the preliminaries.

The Mighty Mustang Band will perform in exhibition at 8:50 p.m.

The public is invited to attend. Full day tickets are $15 for adults and $7.50 for students and seniors, with pre-school and under free. Half-day passes are $10 and $5, respectively. More contest information available at www.friendswoodmustangband.org.

“The response by the bands to our festivals has been phenomenal. We are honored to have them come out to Friendswood,” Dick said.
