At the Heritage Gardeners meeting Thursday, October 2, Certification of Junior Master Gardeners were awarded to, (left to right) Elise and Nathan Marx, (Parents Paul and Leigh Ann Marx of Friendswood), Ashleigh and Anna Loe (Parents Greg and Valerie Loe of Taylor Lake Village), by Bill Holcombe, Galveston County Extension Agent and 4-H Youth Coordinator. Also offering congratulations on completion was Dr. William M. Johnson, Galveston County Extension Agent and Horticulture & Master Gardener Program Coordinator.

The Heritage Junior Master Gardener program is modeled after the Texas Master Gardener program through Texas A&M AgriLife often called JMG Kids. Certification represents approximately three years of creative and fun study and activities in horticultural and environmental science education. The program teaches leadership and life skills development in addition to community service. The program is sponsored by the Heritage Gardeners in Friendswood led by Kaye Corey, Master Gardener, Galveston County.
