With 58% of the vote statewide, Ryan Sitton, a Friendswood resident, has been elected to the Texas Railroad Commission.
Many remember Sitton from his campaign against Greg Bonnen two years ago for the State Representative seat formerly held by Larry Taylor.
Recently named by Houston Business Journal as one of Houston’s “40 Under 40”, Sitton rose to popularity along with the success of Pinnacle AIS, a company he started in his garage that now employees hundreds. During his campaign he assured voters that he would apply his experience in business and engineering to the commission.
Despite its name, the Railroad Commission of Texas no longer regulates railroads. Also sometimes called the Texas Railroad Commission, the state agency now regulates the oil and gas industry, gas utilities, pipeline safety, safety in the liquefied petroleum gas industry, and surface coal and uranium mining.
