Pearland Firefighters Get Hairy for a Cause

In Lifestyle, News by Reporter News

For the next 30 days, Pearland Firefighters will grow mustaches to raise money and awareness for EMS Captain Angie Hays’ battle with cancer. Angie was diagnosed with an aggressive form of liver cancer in January 2014 and has been recently taken off the donor list.

The Firefighters held a fundraiser for Angie in July and approximately $32,000 was raised to help with medical and living expenses.

Lieutenant Jack Helton IV describes Angie as a the most compassionate and hard working person he has known. “Angie raised the bar for her employees and makes them want to strive to do a better job, he said. Angie has served the Pearland community well since 2006.”

Angie is a single mom of a beautiful 5 year old little girl. Her wish is to take her daughter on a Disney Cruise. Angie would love to share this experience with her daughter and have enjoyable memories where they can spend time together taking a break from work and medical issues.

Donations would be appreciated to make this adventure happen for Captain Hays.

Checks should be made payable to “Benefit for Captain Angela Hays” and can be mailed or dropped off at the following Pearland Fire Department or EMS Stations:

2703 Veterans Dr.
2838 McLean Road
8333 Freedom Dr.
3100 Kirby Dr,
2020 Old Alvin Rd.
