For most of the year Mary Yost is concerned with skin care and the color of a person’s lips, but Thursday, December 11, she was focused on the size of the smile.
This was the third year Yost and Mary Kay consultants in the Pearland area organized the Adopt-A-Grandparent event through the Mary Kay Foundation, the charitable arm of the cosmetics company. Senior Residents of the Collanades at Reflection Bay facility located at 12000 Shadow Creek Drive enjoyed the fun-filled holiday event where they were pampered with manicures, beauty products, music by the Knights of Columbus Council 8960, food and a special visit from Santa, Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Mayor Tom Reid.
A senior resident said, “I rarely see family during Christmas, I look forward to seeing the Mary Kay ladies.”
Community volunteers and sponsors teamed up with Yost to make this event successful, including the staff at the Collonades at Reflection Bay, Remax HomeTeam Realtor Maggie McFarland, Sandy Cavasos, owner of A Better Plumbing, St. Helen’s Church, Knights of Columbus Council 8960, Delishly Stylish Photography by Kelley Sweet Jensen, Attorney Karri Axtell, Mary Kay Directors Kristen Novilla, Jessica Holzbach, Abigail De Los Reyas and Mayor Tom Reid.
Dr. Obi Ogundu, Senior Director of Nursing watched the event with tears in his eyes. “We don’t just administer care here , we touch the lives of people through our everyday care” said Dr. Ogundu.
Mary Yost looks forward to next years event and humbly states, “I am doing what I am called to do through Christ.”
