Tubas brought the Christmas spirit to the Kemah Boardwalk recently when 117 tuba and euphonium performers participated in Tuba Christmas there.
Friendswood Junior High had 14 of their tuba and euphonium players participate and FHS had four members take part in the December 13 event.
The students started the day with a two-hour rehearsal at Seabrook Intermediate School.
Afterwards the group enjoyed lunch and then had some fun time at the Kemah Boardwalk.
In the afternoon there was an hour-long concert filled with Christmas favorites to spread the joy of music to all the visitors of Kemah that day.
One of FJH’s sixth grade tuba players, Tyler Cox, won the silver medal in the Tuba decorating contest.
“Tyler beat out a group made of individuals from around the country,” Thomas Landfried, FJH Assistant Band Director said. “We are very proud of the great performance and spreading of musical joy.”
