With its popular rides and snow hill for children, Pearland’s Winterfest 2015 will also include entertainment for parents and grandparents.
The popular post-holiday event in Pearland is set to feature the 1980s cover band, Thunder Pants, along with a 10 a.m. show by the classic rock group, Johnny and the Spinsations.The time for Thunder Pants performance has not been announced.
With entertainment for all ages in mind, the music at Winterfest will feature cover songs from bands such as Depeche Mode, Billy Idol, Talking Heads and Simple Minds.
Johnny and the Spinsations features a 1960s theme with an emphasis on “dance-ability” and an added dose of 50s tunes.
After the Winterfest date was announced, various bands submitted links and information about themselves to the Parks and Recreation Department to express interest in booking the event. Parks and Rec board members said they considered each band’s appeal to various age groups in its selection process.
The 19th annual Pearland Winterfest will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Pearland Recreation Center and Natatorium, 4141 Bailey Road.
For younger guests, entertainment includes a snow tubing hill in the HEB Plus! Winter Zone, carnival, inflatables, games, an exotic petting zoo, rock-climbing wall and more.
Entry is $10 for 3 to 16-year-olds, $4 for those over 17 and free for children 2 years old and under. Those who bring a canned good to donate will get $2 off admission.
