Pearland ISD honors school board

In News by Reporter News

This January, Pearland Independent School District proudly honors seven individuals who take a stand for students year-round.

During School Board Recognition Month, Pearland ISD recognizes its board members for their commitment and outstanding service. Collectively, the district’s trustees claim about 35 years of board service:

– Rusty DeBorde, President
– Pam Boegler, Vice President
– Rebecca Decker, Secretary
– Lance Botkin, Member
– Virgil Gant, Member
– Charles Gooden Jr., Member
– Andrew Solomon, Member

The board functions as the district’s policy-making body, with administrative staff carrying out the policies set by the board. Trustees model effective school board practices, working as a team to benefit the district’s students.

Board meetings are on the second Tuesday of each month at the Education Support Center, 1928 N. Main. Open session begins around 5:30 p.m.

In Texas, more than 7,300 publicly-elected school board members serve approximately 5 million public school students.
