The next regular meeting of the Friendswood City Council Feb. 2 will include three required public hearings regarding amendments to zoning.
The joint public hearings will be held by both the council and Planning and Zoning Commission, and are set to begin at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at City Hall, 910 S. Friendswood Dr.
One of the public hearings deals with a requirement perimeter landscaping and screening when residential and non-residential properties are adjacent to one another. City Council and P&Z held a discussion workshop at its last meeting on amending this section of the code to list a requirement for a 10-foot buffer and 8-foot fence when there is a 30-foot driveway between the properties. Under the proposed change, private streets would still require a 10-foot buffer, but no wall.
Also addressed in public hearing Feb. 2 will be a zone classification request for a 136-acre tract known as the Whitcomb Property, located at 3801 FM 528.
Public comments, both oral and written, will be accepted during this meeting. Full agendas are posted 72 hours before the meeting at the city’s website.
