Often taken as a mother-daughter activity, the Friendswood Police Department’s RAD course for women 12 and up isn’t about martial arts class – but comprehensive safety techniques.
RAD, or Rape Aggression Defense, is based on “realistic self-defense tactics for women.” The four-day, 15-hour course addresses awareness, prevention and risk reduction before moving on to actual hands-on defense training.
The department will again offer the course from Feb. 19 through 22 in four consecutive days, at Friendswood Community Church, 2821 W. Parkwood in Friendswood. Cost is $25 per student.
Hours for the upcoming sessions are: Feb. 19 from 6 to 9:30 p.m.; Feb. 20 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 21 from 4 to 8 p.m., and Feb. 22 from 2 to 6 p.m.
