The Keep Pearland Beautiful (KPB) Board of Directors appointed a transition team to direct the organization and launch a search for a new executive director, following the resignation of Executive Director Sherwin Sun.
Sun resigned, effective January 20, to take a position with Fort Bend Habitat for Humanity. The transition team created by the KPB board includes President Cassie Mitchel, President-elect Billie Jo Moffett, Past President Debbie Cooley, Secretary Laura Austin, Board Member Linda Cowles and Advisory Board Member Delores Fenwick.
The board selected Fenwick to lead the team and be the point person to answer inquiries about the position and about KPB in general. She was a founding member of KPB when it was formed in 1982 and served as executive director (ED) from 1992 until 2004, when Linda Cowles took over as ED. She has stayed active in the organization since then as a part-time employee, a consultant, a board member or a volunteer.
“The transition team is in place to make sure that everything continues to run smoothly until a new ED can be hired,” said Cassie Mitchell, KPB president. “Fay Watson, director of programs and operations, and Lenora Hernandez, office coordinator, are still on the job and all events and programs are continuing as usual.”
During the transition period, inquiries about the organization or the ED position can be directed to Fenwick at 281-652-1659.
