The Friendswood Fire Marshal’s Office and Office of Emergency Management hosts a “Skywarn” class on Wednesday, Feb. 18, for those who are interested in volunteering to watch the skies during severe weather.
Skywarn volunteers relay reports back to the local emergency management district or the National Weather Service. The Feb. 18 class trains volunteers what to watch for and how to report events. Volunteers also provide valuable feedback to the National Weather Service to improve the warning program, which could save lives and prevent property damage in the community.
Times for the upcoming class are 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Friendswood Public Library, 416 S. Friendswood Dr. Those interested in attending this training class should RSVP by Feb. 14, by e-mailing [email protected] or calling the Friendswood Fire Marshal’s Office at 281-996-3335.
