More than a week after the Feb. 17 tragedy that has now claimed the lives of two toddlers in Pearland, police say they are continuing an investigation in conjunction with the Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office.
At about 11:30 a.m. Feb. 17, the twin girls were found unresponsive in a bathtub at their home on Crystal Lake Circle East, a residential area located just off Hughes Ranch Road near Cullen Blvd.
The toddlers were both taken to Memorial Hermann via Life Flight, which landed at nearby Dawson High. Despite efforts of paramedics and doctors at Memorial Hermann, one of the two 15-month-old girls died later that day. Her sister’s death occurred Sunday, Feb. 22, after she was taken off life support at about 6 p.m., according to police reports.
As with the first child from this incident, the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office is performing an autopsy, police said.
According to reports, the twins’ 5-year-old brother and an uncle were in the home home at the time of the incident, though their father was not. Investigators also confirmed this week that the twins’ mother called 911.
The twins’ older sibling is temporarily staying with a relative pending an investigation by Children’s Protective Services.
