Wetland Awareness Day set March 7-8

In News by Reporter News

The City of Pearland invites the community to participate in Pearland Wetland Awareness Day on Saturday, March 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, March 8 from 1 to 4 p.m.

This unique experience will provide participants with education on wetlands as well as hands of experience in planting. Volunteers will be constructing and launching floating wetlands, which will demonstrate a new technique for water quality improvements.

Wetlands are a vanishing, but important part of the Texas Coastal Plains where we live because they naturally filter and break down pollutants through the plants and microbes that live in them. The process of restoring and creating freshwater wetlands improves area water quality and provides green space for people to enjoy and a natural habitat for wildlife.

The event will be held at the Stella Roberts Recycling Center, 5800 Magnolia, Pearland, TX 77584.
