Community cleanup set for April 11

In conjunction with the Don’t Mess With Texas Spring Trash-Off, Keep Pearland Beautiful (KPB) is sponsoring a community wide cleanup on Saturday, April 11.

The theme for the event is “Pitch in Pearland, Put Litter in its Place!” It will begin with breakfast at the Pearland Community Center, 3523 Liberty Drive in Pearland, at 7:30 a.m. Volunteers are asked to bring their own reusable cup to help make this event as green and waste free as possible. In order to have enough food, KPB is asking that groups participating in the breakfast call the KPB office, 281-652-1659, with the number they expect to participate.

Keep Pearland Beautiful will proved bags and gloves for the cleanup. Groups can pick these up at the community center the morning of the cleanup or arrange to come by the KPB offices ahead of time to pick them up.

Everyone who participates in the cleanup will receive a thank-you gift and there will be prizes in a number of categories such as most cigarette butts picked up and most unusual item found. To be eligible for prizes all groups must complete a wrap-up report through our website, www.mykpb.org.

KPB is encouraging everyone to share their Trash-Off photos using #cleanpearland on their instagram or facebook.com/keeppearlandbeautiful and twitter.com/kpbpearland or to email them to Fay Watson ([email protected]).

Groups that want to participate in the Trash-Off but are unable to clean a spot on April 11 can do it before or after that date and still be eligible for the spring prizes as long as KPB receives their wrap-up report by May 11.

To volunteer for the cleanup or for more information, call the KPB office, 281-652-1659 or visit the organization’s website, www.mykpb.org.
