KPB to sponsor Earth Day Celebration

Exhibits, games, clowns, classes and crafts will all be a part of and Earth Day Celebration sponsored by Keep Pearland Beautiful (KPB), the City of Pearland and four middle school environmental clubs.

The event is set for Saturday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pearland Recreation Center, 4141 Bailey Road in Pearland. It will include more than 30 games, exhibits and activities for the entire family. There is no charge for anything at the event.

There are more than 20 exhibitors, including Texas Snakes, Moody Gardens and Texas Parks and Wildlife. Middle school students from the KIPPERS (Kids In Pearland Preserving the Environment through Responsible Service) will staff the games and help with other activities. There will also be four gardening related classes presented at no cost. They are: Urban Forestry by Pearland Urban Forester Tyler Froberg; Nature Center History by Tracey Prothro of the Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Education and Recreation Center; Native Snakes and Reptiles by Clint Pustejovsky of Texas Snakes; and Composting by Brazoria County Master Gardener George Mills.
