Early voting to begin Monday

Early voting begins April 27 in the general election that will decide local school board and city council races.

In the City of Pearland, four candidates – Adrian Hernandez, Derrick Reed, Quentin Wiltz and Trent Perez – are vying for Council Position No. 2 being vacated by Scott Sherman. In Position No. 4, Councilman Keith Ordeneaux is being challenged by Adrienne Bell.

In Pearland ISD, Trustee Virgil Gant is running for reelection against challengers Mark Lewis and Kelvin L. Williams. Trustee Andrew Solomon is challenged by Sean P. Murphy for Position No. 4.

All school board positions in Pearland ISD are at-large, meaning each trustee represents the entire district rather than one area. Runoffs are not conducted unless candidates tie.

The last day for early voting is May 5. Brazoria County “vote centers” will open on election day at 7 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m.

This year, a countywide polling program allows those registered to vote at any of 29 polling places on Election Day. Previously, voters must go to a specific poll location based on their address.

Vote centers will be located throughout the county. In Pearland, locations are:

– Drainage District Building, 4813 Broadway
– Reid Library, 3522 Liberty Dr.
– Westside Library, 2803 Business Center Dr.
– Silverlake Recreation Center, 2715 Southwyck
– Turner College and Career High, 4714 Bailey Rd.
– Westside Event Center, 2150 Countryplace Pkwy.
