Drivers making left turns at three FM 528 intersections now can see signs explaining new flashing yellow arrows.

More flashing yellow arrows at intersections

In News by Reporter News

Late last year, traffic signals at the intersections of FM 518 at Eagle Lakes Drive and FM 518 at West Ranch Boulevard were modified to reduce waiting time for Friendswood drivers making left turns.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) installed flashing yellow arrows (FYA).

Recently, TxDOT completed installation of FYA at three FM 528 intersections: FM 528 at Desota Street, FM 528 at Friendswood Lakes Boulevard, and FM 528 at Briar Creek Drive.

At specific times during the signal light sequence, the light will be a flashing yellow arrow instead of a red light. When the signal is an FYA, drivers can make a left turn across oncoming traffic after yielding to oncoming traffic, rather than waiting for a green light.

Eventually, 15 Friendswood intersections will have FYA.
