The City of Manvel has landed on a “best of” real estate ranking for the Houston area.

Manvel placed No. 13 on the “Best Houston Suburbs to Retire,” a ranking published by real estate research firm Movoto.

The company ranked 22 suburbs based on a study of the cost of living, median home value, crime rate, senior amenities, population of citizens over the age of 65 and the number of doctors in each community. “Senior amenities per capita” include volunteer opportunities, recreation centers, golf courses, restaurants, libraries, arts and entertainment and retirement homes.

Nearby, Sugar Land ranked No. 15, Pasadena was No. 10 and Friendswood is No. 9. Pearland ranked at No. 20.

Noted for its affordability, Alvin made the list at No. 4 and Webster – boasting the largest number of doctors per capita than any community in Houston along with the most “senior amenities” – was No. 2. Coming in at the No. 1 spot was Richmond, which Movoto described as “affordable and safe.”
