The city will hold a public hearing June 24 to give residents a voice in how it will spend more than $300,000 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The Community Development Block Grant program is restricted to up to 15 percent for social services programs and no more than 20 percent for planning and administration, leaving the remainder to be used for infrastructure, public facilities, code enforcement and housing.

The public meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 3519 Liberty Dr.

Residents may also send comments during the Public Comment Period from June 19 – July 21, to the City of Pearland Finance Department at 3519 Liberty Drive, Pearland, TX 77581, via email to Joel Hardy at [email protected], by telephone at 281-652-1795 or fax to 281-652-1707.

The city’s proposed plan calls for $50,000 for code enforcement for low income areas, and $22,000 for rehabilitation of those areas.
