Two honored for international science fair

Karan Jerath & Aditya Mohile (graduated seniors from Class of 2015) were honored with Celebration of Excellence awards at the June 8 meeting of the Friendswood ISD School Board. Both competed in the 2015 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in Pittsburgh, PA from May 10-15.

Karan Jerath:
-selected as the Grand Award winner for Physical Sciences which earned him the Intel Foundation Young Scientist Award and a $50,000 scholarship
-awarded $3000 and 1st Place in Environmental Engineering and then received $5000 for Best in Category in Environmental Engineering.
-invited to travel to India later this year as part of the Intel and Indo-US Science & Technology Forum and will be participating in India’s international science fair. This week-long, all-expenses paid trip also includes opportunities for him to meet with top scientists.- honored by the Organization of American States and the Consortium for Ocean Leadership.
-honored the night of the board meeting with a plaque from Kai Kamaka, director of the Texas Science and Engineering Fair.

Aditya Mohile:
-honored by the American Dental Association Foundation and was awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
