State Representative Ed Thompson announced his plans to run for re-election to the Texas House of Representatives, District 29. Thompson was elected in 2012 and recently wrapped up his second Legislative Session in Austin, serving the people of Texas House District 29. The 29th District covers the cities of Pearland, Alvin, Manvel, Hillcrest, Rosharon, Iowa Colony, Brookside Village, and Liverpool in Northeast Brazoria County.

“I stand by the promises I made to voters when I first ran for office in 2012,” said Thompson, “and I continue to deliver on those promises: keeping taxes low, getting funds returned to Texas education, and solving long term water and transportation needs.” Thompson was the author of 15 pieces of legislation in the 84th Session, addressing issues as diverse as public insurance adjuster abuse, school district bond debt, sporting event assaults, and simplifying election laws. Thompson supported a number of conservative priorities, including: securing the Texas-Mexico border, strengthening 2nd Amendment rights, passing pro-life legislation, and providing tax relief.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the people of District 29,” said Thompson. “I hope constituents will vote for me again in 2016 and allow me to continue to help the families, schools, businesses, and industries in District 29 succeed.”

Ed Thompson is an insurance agent in Pearland where he has been a small businessman since 1982. He is former Mayor Pro-Tem of Pearland, past President of the Pearland Economic Development Corporation, past Chairman of the Pearland Chamber of Commerce, and a former School Board Trustee for Pearland ISD.
