Rain slows work at Clear Brook

Recent heavy rainfall and flooding has impacted ongoing construction projects under way in Clear Creek ISD, district officials said, including renovations at Clear Brook High in Friendswood.

According to the Houston/Galveston National Weather Service, rain totals for the area are more than 20 inches above normal.

The rain has impacted the construction schedule of CCISD Challenger Columbia Stadium, McWhirter Elementary as well as Clear Brook, CCISD announced.

Additions and renovations at Clear Brook have been put behind, but the district has yet to say how much. The construction phase had initially been expected to be complete by December. Most noticeable will be a new school entry with enclosed front courtyard, new parking and traffic loop at the campus. The project also is adding a new theater, classrooms, labs and storage space in addition to athletic department renovations and expansions.

Clear Brook is one of a number of ongoing projects funded by $367 million in bond sales approved by voters in 2013.

Instead of late September, CCISD’s new stadium is now set to open in November, which will impact the football schedule this fall. The original 2015 CCISD Fall Football Schedule split varsity games between the new stadium and Veterans Memorial Stadium. Changes have been made and the official 2015 CCISD Varsity Football Schedule now reflects all home games will be played at Veterans.
