Police today are trying to determine the factors that caused an auto-pedestrian fatality accident that claimed the life of a 75-year old man in the 2400 block of W. Parkwood (FM 528) just west of Sunmeadow on Saturday evening (August 1) at 9:28 p.m.

Preliminary investigation found that a red 2015 Ford Festiva was west bound in the 2400 block of W. Parkwood (FM 528) when the driver struck and killed the pedestrian as he crossed the five lane highway. One witness recalls seeing the victim walking near the roadway. Police also say the victim was wearing dark clothing.

The accident left the pedestrian with fatal injuries. The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office sent a special prosecutor to the scene, a protocol for fatality crashes in the County.

The 18-year old driver from Alvin was not injured and did remain at the scene. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor on the part of the driver.

No charges have been filed.
