Brazoria County Association for Citizens with Handicaps, dba BACH Rehabilitation Center, is celebrating 42 years of successfully reaching out to address the concerns of families for their children with special needs. Organized to assure that children with disabilities and developmental delays could obtain the help they required to grow and develop their potential, BACH continues to provide Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) and Support Service Programs throughout Brazoria County to over 1,000 children every year.
A portion of the funding for the BACH ECI program comes from the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), Early Childhood Intervention Division. DARS requires that the BACH Agency provide State and Local Funds monies in order to receive their support. A portion of that funding comes directly from BACH’s special event fundraisers. Recent cutbacks in federal grants, private grants, and foundation budgets have affected many non-profit organizations; BACH is no exception. This year, more than ever, BACH needs your help.
For 16 years, BACH’s Fun Fest – which is hosted by the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Department, Brazoria County Peace Officers Association and the Alvin-Manvel Knights of Columbus – has supported BACH’s efforts in the North-end of the county to raise the matching funds necessary to continue providing services for “special” children. Randy Rhyne is the 2015 Fun Fest Chairperson. Randy and his BACH Fun Fest Steering Team Volunteers want to personally invite you to join in this year’s festivities.
The 2015 BACH Fun Fest is scheduled for Saturday, August 22, from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Alvin-Manvel Knights of Columbus Hall. The event will feature free pony rides, clowns with face painting, and carnival style games for children (5:00-6:30); musical entertainment by Tom’s Fun Band; barbecue beef, chicken & sausage (prepared and served up by the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Department/Peace Officers Association); and silent and live auctions with dozens of sensational items to choose from such as custom-made wooden outdoor chairs and table; restaurant packages; custom handmade rustic art; golf packages; custom made grill; and more.
All of the funds which are raised at BACH functions stay in Brazoria County, helping our friends and neighbors.
The BACH Fun Fest Steering Team hopes you can buy a dinner ticket ($12.50 each, children under 12 eat free), donate an auction item, be an active bidder at the event, or be an event sponsor (or any combination). If you choose to donate to the event or need additional information, please contact Shelly Guidry, Development Assistant at 877-714-1766 or 979-849-2447.
In these particularly challenging economic times, we are confident that through the continued generosity of caring Brazoria County folks, BACH will once again meet its funding goals. Our thanks in advance for your commitment and for sharing the BACH dream of “Helping Children with Special Needs Achieve!”
