Libraries designated as cooling stations

In News by Reporter News

With temperatures now reaching triple digits, both Pearland libraries are designated “cooling centers” where residents without air conditioning can escape the dangerous August heat.

The cooling centers are a partnership between United Way of Brazoria County and the Brazoria County Library system, designating all libraries in the county as cooling stations. The Pearland central library is located at 3522 Liberty Dr., and the Westside location is near State Highway 288 at 2803 Business Center Drive, Suite 101.

The cooling center program runs through Sept. 30, and locations will be open until 5 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays.

In addition, residents age 60 or older who need transportation to cooling stations may call ActionS Inc. at 979-849-6132.
