Several trees looking less-than-healthy near the library’s ongoing expansion are being addressed, Friendswood city staff say.
A resident recently approached Councilman Steve Rockey regarding the trees, who went to examine them himself.
“There are a couple that are looking particularly stressed,” Rockey reported to Public Works Director Patrick Donnart during a recent presentation that included the library expansion.
Donnart said design documents state the contractor was to place an 8-foot umbrella around the trees, which was done. “They have been notified that we, like the citizen who asked that question, do feel that there are a couple of trees that are being stressed and are potentially damaged,” he said.
“If by chance they don’t make it, we are expecting in-kind replacements,” Donnart added.
