Brazoria County Association for Citizens with Handicaps (BACH) will be celebrating the 16th annual BACH Fun Fest on Saturday, August 22, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Alvin-Manvel Knights of Columbus Hall in Alvin. The event is hosted by the Alvin-Manvel Knights of Columbus #6403, the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Department and the Brazoria County Peace Officers Association. The BACH Fun Fest is open to the public. Free children’s activities and games (pony rides, moonwalk, clowns, carnival style games, face painting, etc.) for children, regardless of their ability or disability is scheduled from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. Other entertainment, which begins at 5 p.m., includes music by Tom’s Fun Band, live and silent auctions, and more. Barbeque dinners with all the trimmings will be available for $12.50 a plate (children 12 and under eat free) from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Meal tickets are available from steering team members or may be purchased at the door.

Thanks to the generosity of numerous event sponsors, over $27,000 has already been committed to this year’s event. Sponsorships are still available. All money raised will stay in Brazoria County and be used to provide services to children served by BACH’s Early Childhood Intervention and Support Services Programs.

For 42 years BACH has been providing aid to children with special needs in Brazoria County. BACH’s primary program is the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) Program, which serves children birth to three-years-old who have developmental delays or disabilities. Services are provided on a sliding scale basis, however, services are provided regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Assistance includes family education and support, service coordination, specialized skills training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nutrition services, speech-language pathology, and others. Children ages birth to 12-years-old participate in free recreational, support and ancillary programs provided by BACH.

Auction items are still being accepted for live and silent auctions. To donate an item or purchase a meal ticket prior to the event please call any of the following dedicated Volunteer Steering Team members: Randy Rhyne (event volunteer chairman), Larry Buehler (event volunteer co-chair), Ken Zilke, Mary Anguiano, Sheriff Charles Wagner, Eric Melass, Richard Dix, Johanna McWilliams, Doug McReaken, Kamille Griffin, Chris Kincheloe, Teresa Croft, Shelly Guidry and Tracee Tollett.
