Three Friendswood High School FFA members recently received Lone Star FFA State degrees while attending the 87th annual Texas FFA State Convention in Corpus Christi.
Bailey Beken, Jordan Gates and Alyson Ball received these honors as the highest degree given by the FFA State organization.
The Lone Star FFA Degree recognizes FFA members who have received the Chapter degree, been active FFA members for at least two years, completed at least four semesters of agricultural science at or above the ninth grade level, maintained a supervised agriculture experience (SAE) program, demonstrated their leadership skills and shown a commitment to the FFA through involvement at the chapter level and above.
Beken, Gates and Ball were three of the 19 attending the conference from FHS. Also attending were Ty Kempken, Matthew Speyrer, Johnathan Aldridge, Nick Roberts, Jack Cowan, Dustin Surber, Blair Allen, Haley Bratton, Haley Crenshaw, Haley Binkley, Rachel Pate, Magen Cotham, Leah Rhyne, Brooke Burris, Olivia Cates, and Teyha Horbach.
More than 11,000 members and guests attended this year’s convention.
The FHS FFA members attended the convention for one week and attended leadership workshops and participated in events and activities. FFA is an agricultural youth leadership organization.
