State Sen. Larry Taylor (R – Friendswood) has been reappointed as co-chairman of the Joint Interim Committee to Study a Coastal Barrier System.
The 23-member group is comprised of the members of the standing Senate Committee on Natural Resources and the House Committee on Land and Resource Management, as well as two coastal members appointed by leadership from each chamber.
Taylor commented that progress on storm surge suppression should move forward before the area faces another major storm.
“It’s our responsibility as state legislators to facilitate a pro-active approach to protect our state’s many interests along the coast,” Taylor stated.
The Joint Interim Committee to Study a Coastal Barrier System was originally created through legislation by Taylor in 2013.
