Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department Station 1 was a busy place Sunday, Oct. 11 as residents stopped by the Open House held from 1 to 5 p.m. Firefighters and volunteers provided information about both the fire and EMS departments, and activities included a live fire burn, car extrication, fire extinguisher demo, and an air medical helicopter landing. Visitors were also able to take a ride on a fire truck and climb inside an ambulance to experience a little of what it’s like to be a first responder. The event concluded National Fire Prevention Week which was October 4-10. For more information visit www.friendswoodvfd.com.
