Library renovation and expansion on schedule

The Friendswood Public Library $2.29 million dollar bond expansion and renovation project is progressing at a good pace.

Some areas have been demolished and new construction of meeting rooms and children’s areas are in progress. Restrooms have been remodeled.

Outside, the new parking lot is open. Improvements are underway at the existing parking lot. The underground storm sewer servicing the parking lot was completed and “tested” during the October rains.

Almost all of the Library’s regular programming is being offered during the construction and renovation period. The project is scheduled for completion next summer.

As part of the renovation and expansion, brick pavers will be installed around the Library’s exterior. The Library is inviting anyone to purchase a brick paver. They will be installed in either the new main Courtyard or Children’s courtyard.

The pavers are four inches by eight inches. Purchasers choose the installation area and specify the personalized message to be laser-engraved on the paver. All bricks will be placed randomly throughout the designated areas. The cost for paver is $100, and is tax deductible. The paver sale concludes at the end of this year and all proceeds go to benefit the Friendswood Public Library.
