Four Pearland High School theatre students are looking forward to national spotlight after earning high scores in the Texas Thespian State Festival Dec. 3-5.
Out of 1,600 students competing statewide, four from PHS qualified to compete at the National Thespian Festival in June 2016.
Qualifying students included Adrian Lopez and McKenzie Misiaszek in monologue and Erin Strain and Katelyn Adams in duet acting.
During the state festival, budding actors and actresses competed in everything from individual performance, technical and team events to playwriting, short film, outstanding troupe award and music composition.
To compete at state, PHS theatre students had to be members of the International Thespian Society, the Education Theatre Association’s student honorary organization that inducts more than 36,000 students each year.
