The City of Friendswood has received the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the Fiscal Year 2015-16 budget.

Mike Rodgers, Finance Director for the City of Webster and Immediate Past President of the GFOA of Texas, presented the award to Director of Administrative Services Cindy Edge, Deputy Director of Administrative Services, Katina Hampton and Budget Manager Jennifer Walker at the Aug. 1 meeting of Friendswood City Council.

The City also earned the Operations Guide Special Performance Measures Recognition for its detail of the City departments’ objective measures of progress for accomplishing the City’s overall mission and goals.

In order to receive the budget award, the City had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. Budget documents must be rated “proficient” by serving as 1) a policy document, 2) a financial plan, 3) an operations guide and 4) a communications device.

“We would like to recognize the efforts of Cindy Edge, Director of Administrative Services, Katina Hampton, Deputy Director of Administrative Services – Finance, and Jennifer Walker, Budget Manager. We would also like to recognize the Budget Team, the Accounting staff, the entire Administrative Services Department,” City Manager Roger Roecker said. “Their cumulative efforts enabled us to reach this achievement.”

This is the thirteenth consecutive year the City has received this award and the City’s first Operations Guide Special Performance Measures Recognition.
