Ro’Vin Garrett, Brazoria County Tax Assessor-Collector wants Brazoria County vehicle owners to be aware of a major change when renewing registration on a motor vehicle starting on Sept. 1.

“For those who are delinquent in child support payments for six months or more, the Office of the Attorney General will have their vehicle registration renewal blocked through the Department of Motor Vehicles Registration and Title automated system and my office will not be able to renew registration until the Attorney General authorizes the block be removed,” Garrett stated.

Garrett concluded, “This policy will apply to vehicles up for renewal from December forward. Those who will be impacted initially by the new policy will be notified starting in September with receipt of their renewal notice. The Attorney General Child Support Division will follow up with information on how to remove the hold.”
