Jon Gilbert Stitsinger, 78, surrounded by prayers, love, family and friends passed away on August 18, 2016 after a week in ICU. Jon was born May 2, 1938 in Hamilton, Ohio to Robert Edwin Stitsinger and Mary Virginia Gilbert Stitsinger. Jon was the second of three children, but he was quickly joined by his twin brother, Don. Older sister, Peggy, had real live dolls for play with the advent of the twins.
 
Jon was pre-deceased by his parents Robert and Mary Stitsinger and sister-in-law, Pat Stitsinger. Jon is survived by his loving wife, Martha (Arthur) Stitsinger, his son, Christopher Stitsinger (Lynda), step-son, Art Walters and step-daughter, Jennifer Tilley-Lussier (Allen). Also surviving him are his precious grandchildren, Stephanie T. Funderburg (Wes), Trevor Tilley (and fiancée Katie Huddleston), Caitlin Tilley-Herrell (Alan), April Stitsinger, Dakota Stitsinger, Heather Barnes-Walters, Brittany Walters, Kaylee Walters, Holly Walters, and those who were a bonus through marriage grandchildren, Greg Lussier, Jaime Lussier, Jessica Lussier, Brandon Ball, Megan Ball, and Cameron Ball. The delight of Jon’s life, the great-grandchildren are Sophia, Brandon, Rhyder, Eisley and Ryan (who shared a May 2 birthday with Jon). In addition, he is survived by longtime friends who feel like family, John and Bonnie Melton, and their daughter, Emily Fritzler (Caleb) and her children Aidan and Austin. Also, Jon is survived by his sister, Peggy Ziegler (Bill), and brother, Donald (Ellen), aunt, Jean Arthur, and a host of wonderful extended family and close friends who all have been such a blessing for him in his life.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 27 at 10:00 am at Friendswood United Methodist Church, 110 N. Friendswood Drive, with Rev. Rosemary Dubois officiating. A reception will be held in Wesley Hall following the service and everyone is welcome.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Jon’s memory may be made to the Missions Program, to Senior Adult Ministries, or to the Pastoral Care Ministry at FUMC, 110 N. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas 77546 or a charity of your choice.
