Pearland ISD partnering to host suicide prevention event

Pearland Independent School District is partnering with the Mental Health Task Force of Brazoria County to host the first annual #iwillASK Brazoria County Suicide Prevention Event.

The community is invited to the free Northern Brazoria County event Thursday, Sept. 8, 6:30 – 8 p.m. at Turner College and Career High School (4717 Bailey Road).

Suicide is one of the most preventable causes of death. Learn how to be a change agent in your family and community.

In remembrance of loved ones lost to suicide, attendees will release balloons at sunset.

Those who cannot attend the first event are also invited to the Southern Brazoria County event Tuesday, Sept. 27, 6 – 8 p.m. at the Brazoria County Courthouse (120 S. Chenango St., Angleton).

In addition to Pearland ISD, event sponsors and partners include NAMI, Counseling Connections, Brazoria County Alliance for Children, Sweeny Community Hospital, Brazoria County Counseling Center, Alvin ISD and Columbia-Brazoria ISD.
