Congratulations to our Coach Kirk Martin and his Manvel Mavericks. Changing from 6A ranking to a 5A ranking has not dimmed the dedication and endurance of this fantastic football team. Way to go team! Keep up the good work. The City of Manvel is very proud of you.

Congratulations to the Manvel EMS for sponsoring the First Aid and CPR Class. The graduates are: Casandra Speirs, Dr. Trish Hessel DVM, Megan Velez, Beverly Stephenson, Delores M. Martin and Geri Swanzy. There will be another class next August. Please mark your calendars if you are interested.

The Manvel Charter Review Committee has begun. We thank the following for their dedication and service to our community: Chairman Deborah Davison, Vice Chairman Melody Hanson, Brian Wilmer, Chad Bell, Debbie Harrison, Eddie Cook, George Collins, Lew Shuffler, Nancy Garcia, Raymond Root and Ricardo Sifuentes.

The Manvel Police Department is planning to have their next Citizens Police Academy Class in the spring of 2017. If you are interested, please mark your calendar.

Manvel Town Center is negotiating with Krogers to see if the City of Manvel meets their criteria. Presidio of Manvel is also in negotiation with HEB to see if the City of Manvel meets their criteria. We have two promising opportunities for our community.

TxDOT is planning around September to begin work on the medians along SH6. They will add barriers to restrict the movement of traffic. This will restrict the left out maneuver and can restrict points by 50%. They will also add a new signal location at the future Manvel Parkway.

Congratulations to David Wagner, Pearland Medical Center’s New Chief Executive Officer, an HCA affiliated hospital. We are blessed to have hospitals so near at hand.

Stripes will tentatively open around Sept. 12. The rains have not been as kind to their progress. We do look forward to the opening.

Congratulations to Joe Bolduck’s parents Al and Irene on their 70th wedding anniversary. They renewed their vows at the little church that the Bolducks worked so hard to restore to it’s greater glory. Thank you for bringing an added star to Manvel’s crown.

CVS Pharmacy at CR94 will have their opening on Sunday, Sept. 4 from 2 to 5 p.m. Please stop by and welcome them.

We were saddened to hear the passing of our beloved retired Commissioner #2 Jim Clawson. He was a bright light for us here in Manvel. He will be sorely missed.

Once again Life and Soul will be offering a free health fair on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 8 a.m. to noon at 3945 CR58. Please mark your calendars.

As you can see, our lives have become very busy here in Manvel. We appreciate your continued input and support.
