Manvel Mayor Delores Martin, Tamara Young-Hector, of Willis, and Harish Jajoo, of Sugar Land, were the three newly elected TML officers for 2016-2018.

Manvel Mayor Delores Martin, Tamara Young-Hector, of Willis, and Harish Jajoo, of Sugar Land, were the three newly elected TML officers for 2016-2018.

Manvel Mayor Delores Martin was elected the new Vice President of the Texas Municipal League (TML) Region 14 at the 2016 Fall Meeting and Workshop at La Torretta Resort on Lake Conroe recently.

She joins newly elected President Tamara Young-Hector representing the city of Willis and Regional Board Director Harish Jajoo from the City of Sugar Land.

Term of office for the new officers is 2016-2018.

Conference guest speakers included Dr. Jerry Cook from the Invasive Species Institute of Texas, who spoke on the economic and environmental impact of invasive species in the region’s communities and Ray Laughter, retired Vice Chancellor for External Affairs who informed the group about the steps municipalities needed to take towards effective community and economic development.

Bennett Sandlin, Executive Director for TML, updated the attendees on legislation going before the Texas House and Senate that will impact all Texas communities.

The Business Meeting concluded with the election of the Region 14 Officers.

A cruise on Lake Conroe was offered to all attendees at the conference.
