Mamie Ruth Skipper Horn

Mamie Ruth Skipper Horn, 83, passed away on September 10, 2016 in Webster, Texas.  Mamie was born on December 29, 1932 Potosi, Texas. She was the youngest of ten children to parents Thomas Monroe and Ella Fern Skipper. 
She married Finley Holmes Horn on September 29, 1951.  Finley and Skip, as she was known, lived in Abilene and surrounding areas.  Skip and Finley started their family and had two sons and a daughter.  After years of Finley’s business, they moved to Friendswood, Texas where Skip owned her own real estate business.  She enjoyed her work and being involved in various clubs and organizations.  Skip also enjoyed golf and tennis.  In her later years, she devoted her time and attention to her husband, her children, their spouses and her grandchildren.  Skip was a loving, caring, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Her entire life she always put others before herself.  She will be missed greatly and will forever be loved deeply by all.
Skip was preceded in death by parents; brothers:  Lenard Skipper, Bill Skipper, Erby Skipper, Elvis Skipper, Glenn Skipper, and James Foster; sisters:  Ivy Jewel, May, and Gladys; and her granddaughter, Skipper Lee Horn.
She is survived by her husband, Finley Holmes Horn; her children: Larry Horn and wife Melody, Paul Finley Horn and wife Jill, Holly Horn Mickler and husband Jeff; sisters-in-law: Margie Ann Hammack, Polly Horn, Laverne Horn and Frankie Horn; brother-in-law, Gerald Horn; grandchildren: Wayne Horn, Kassi Horn, Sean Finley Mickler and wife Katie, Brendan Barry and fiancée Kara Weber, Kacie Nyholt and husband Adam, Jenny Horn, Jessica Horn Geiman and husband Lance, and Allison Devera and husband Justin; twelve great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 4:00 P.M. at Field Store Cemetery, 26100 Schneider Road, Waller, TX 77484, with Rev. Ware officiating.
